The Graduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering (P²CEM) was established in 2008 as part of an institutional initiative to expand engineering graduate education at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS).

P²CEM offers Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering and is the only public doctoral program in materials science and engineering in the state of Sergipe. The program prepares highly qualified professionals for careers in academia, research institutions, and industry, emphasizing multidisciplinary and sustainable approaches to materials research.

Admissions occur twice a year, with calls for applications typically released in May and October. Selection is generally based on an evaluation of applicants’ academic and professional backgrounds. The entire application process can be completed online, including the electronic submission of all required documents.
